Semarang, July 21, 2026 – The Public Administration Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Diponegoro, continued the Public Administration Summer Course 2026 series by hosting its fifth session, entitled “Climate Reality and Administrative Cycles.” As part of the overarching theme, “Climate Change and the Limits of Public Administration,” this session provided an international platform for discussing how climate change is reshaping public administration cycles and highlighting the need for more adaptive and sustainable governance.
Held online via Zoom, the session featured two distinguished academics from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Malaysia: Dr. Aznor Sarah Aqilah Binti Azmadi, and Dr. Wan Mohd Adzim Bin Wan Mohd Zain. The discussion was moderated by Azaria Eda Pradana, S.A.P., M.A.P., a lecturer in the Public Administration Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro.
During their presentations, both speakers emphasized that climate change is no longer merely an environmental issue but has evolved into a multidimensional challenge affecting every stage of the public administration cycle— rom policy planning and formulation to program implementation and policy evaluation. They highlighted the urgent need for governments to adopt adaptive, collaborative, and evidence-based governance approaches to effectively respond to the growing complexity of climate-related challenges.
The session was highly interactive, with active participation from attendees representing various universities. Participants engaged in lively discussions on integrating climate change into public policy, strengthening institutional capacity within government organizations, and identifying best practices for building resilient public administration systems capable of addressing global environmental challenges.
As part of the Public Administration Summer Course 2026 series, the fifth session reaffirmed the commitment of the Public Administration Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro, to advancing the internationalization of higher education through collaboration with international scholars. The program is expected to broaden participants’ perspectives while fostering innovative ideas for developing public administration that is responsive to climate change and aligned with the principles of sustainable development.
