On May 19, 2026, the Academic Expertise Cluster (KBK) of the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro (FISIP Undip), conducted a Community Service activity at Kampoeng Djadhoel, Batik Village Semarang. The event carried the theme “From Batik to Digital Market: Startup Training as a Digital Governance Strategy Based on Eco-Branding in Empowering Batik MSMEs in Kampoeng Djadhoel, Batik Village Semarang.” Serving as the guest speaker was Johnsen Hezron Gelora Kasih, S.AP., a content creator practitioner and a student in the Master’s Program in Public Administration at FISIP Undip. Through this training, participants gained valuable insights into startup development and the utilization of digital technologies to strengthen the competitiveness of batik enterprises in the era of digital transformation.
The chair of the event, Prof. Dr. Dra. Sri Suwitri, M.Si., explained that this program represents an implementation of the Tri Dharma (Three Pillars) of Higher Education, particularly in the realm of community service. According to her, in addition to fulfilling educational and research functions, university lecturers also bear the responsibility of making direct contributions to community empowerment through practical and beneficial activities.
The training was attended by approximately 14 batik MSME actors affiliated with Kampoeng Djadhoel, Batik Village Semarang. Participants received comprehensive materials and hands-on mentoring regarding strategies for building startups and leveraging digital platforms to support the growth of their businesses.
Dr. Titik Djumiarti, S.Sos., M.Si., a member of the implementing team, expressed her hope that MSME actors would be able to apply the knowledge gained to develop eco-branding-based digital governance strategies. She emphasized that strengthening the eco-friendly image of batik products could serve as both a value-added differentiator and an effective marketing strategy to enhance product competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic market.
