Semarang, September 3, 2026 — The Public Policy Academic Expertise Cluster (KBK), Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro (FISIP UNDIP), organized a workshop entitled “Qualitative Data Analysis with ATLAS.ti 24: From Coding to Research Findings” on Thursday, September 3, 2026. The workshop was held at the PKM Room, FISIP Universitas Diponegoro, Semarang.
The activity was part of the World Class University (WCU) program through the Domestic Postdoctoral Program (Program Postdoc Dalam Negeri/PPDN), which aims to strengthen academic capacity, research capabilities, and scholarly networks within FISIP Universitas Diponegoro.
The workshop featured Dr. Ardiyansah, S.Sos., M.AP., a lecturer in the Master’s Program in Public Administration at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA), as the resource person. During the workshop, participants gained an understanding of how to use ATLAS.ti 24 to manage and analyze qualitative research data, covering various stages from data organization and coding to category development, theme construction, and the identification of research findings.
The workshop emphasized that the use of qualitative data analysis software is not merely about mastering the technical operation of an application. More importantly, researchers need to be able to develop an analytical process that is systematic, transparent, and academically accountable.
Through various examples and hands-on practices using ATLAS.ti 24, participants were encouraged to understand how data from interviews, observations, and documents can be processed in a more structured manner to identify patterns, relationships between concepts, and more robust research findings.
The Dean of FISIP Universitas Diponegoro emphasized that strengthening methodological capacity is an important aspect of improving research quality in higher education.
The ability to systematically manage and analyze data is expected to enhance the quality of research conducted by lecturers, students, and researchers, while also encouraging the production of scholarly publications that make meaningful academic contributions and remain relevant to addressing various public issues.
The workshop also reflected FISIP UNDIP’s commitment to fostering an academic culture that is responsive to developments in research technology. Software such as ATLAS.ti can assist researchers in managing complex datasets; however, research quality ultimately depends on the soundness of the conceptual framework, the researcher’s interpretive capacity, and the strength of the scholarly argument.
Through this activity, the Public Policy Academic Expertise Cluster of the Department of Public Administration, FISIP UNDIP, is expected to continue serving as a platform for the development of knowledge, research methodologies, and academic collaboration across higher education institutions.
The collaboration between Universitas Diponegoro and Universitas Negeri Surabaya through this program further strengthens academic networks and knowledge exchange, supporting the advancement of higher education and research in the fields of public administration and public policy.
The “Qualitative Data Analysis with ATLAS.ti 24: From Coding to Research Findings” workshop is expected to go beyond improving participants’ technical skills. It is also intended to foster a stronger tradition of qualitative research that is increasingly systematic, critical, and capable of generating meaningful findings for the advancement of knowledge and the improvement of public policy practice.
