Safari Kurma 2026: Public Empathy and Spreading Integrity

Tembalang, (16/04). The Safari Kurma 2026 program, organized by the Public Administration Student Association of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University, serves as a tangible manifestation of student concern for the community. Carrying the theme “Public Empathy, Spreading Integrity,” this initiative focused on instilling the values of empathy and trustworthiness through social actions conducted over two days, from April 11–12, 2026.

Day 1 of the activities took place on April 11, 2026, at the Manarul Mabrur Orphanage, located at Jl. Shirothol Mustaqim No. 1, Banyumanik District, Semarang, Central Java. During this event, students conducted a community service program filled with various educational and interactive activities alongside the children of the orphanage. Generally, the first day of the Safari Kurma program began with an opening by the Master of Ceremonies (MC), followed by several welcoming remarks. Afterward, the children and the entire committee shared lunch. The event then proceeded with a presentation focusing on the importance of empathy and integrity in daily life. The material was delivered using PowerPoint and interactive methods to ensure it was easily understood by the children

To respond to the material presented, the children participated in a sharing and reflection session through coloring, allowing them to express their ideas and creativity. The atmosphere was filled with joy, marked by laughter and bright smiles on the faces of both the children and the committee members. The colored drawings were then displayed on a board titled “My Work” (Hasil Karyaku), where the children received appreciation for their courage in showcasing their unique and authentic creations.

The program continued with a games session that further enhanced the joy shared between the children and the committee. Two types of games were contested: a cardboard race and a ball relay. Following the games, the project leader presented prizes as a token of appreciation to the winning groups. A warm atmosphere and a profound sense of togetherness were palpable throughout the activity. At the conclusion of the event, the committee, represented by the chairperson of Safari Kurma 2026, handed over the collected donations to the orphanage management. A certificate was also presented as an expression of gratitude for the opportunity and the warm welcome extended to the Public Administration Student Association (HMPS), which allowed the event to proceed smoothly until the end. The children showed great enthusiasm in participating in every part of the program, from the learning sessions to the communal activities. The interaction not only provided a valuable experience for the children but also served as a profound lesson for the students to become more sensitive to the social conditions within their surroundings.

On Day 2, April 12, 2026, the program continued with a lunch distribution initiative around the Banyumanik area. The activity targeted those in need, including the underprivileged, parking attendants, online motorcycle taxi drivers, construction workers, and homeless individuals passing through the vicinity. In approximately thirty minutes, 27 lunch boxes were successfully distributed. This initiative was more than a simple act of sharing; it served as a momentum to foster empathy for community groups that are often overlooked. The brief interactions that occurred during the distribution served as a reminder that compassion can be realized through simple yet profoundly meaningful actions. The second day provided a memorable and touching conclusion to the entire Safari Kurma 2026 series of activities.

Overall, Safari Kurma 2026 successfully served as a platform for implementing social values, particularly in building social sensitivity and responsibility toward the community. Through the theme “Public Empathy, Spreading Integrity,” the program is expected to foster an awareness that social change can begin with small, collective steps. This initiative stands as evidence that students do not only serve as agents of change within the academic sphere but also as active members of society dedicated to spreading benefits and kindness.
